FAQ
What does auto start/stop do to help the life of my machine? What is it?
Auto start/stop is one of the best features you can get for a commercial pressure washer. In many functions, a commercial pressure washer is used, and then turned off for a significant amount of time before the next use. Auto on/off ensures the machine comes on when prompted, and turns off when the job is done. It seems like a simple feature. However, letting a power washer run without pulling the trigger can cause serious damage to the seals in the pump. Without water flowing, warm or even hot water circulates in the pump, causing seals to break down and melt. In other situations, when hot water is circulating in the pump and you pull the trigger again, cold water enters a very hot chamber and can cause pump cavitation (air bubbles in the water that erode the components of your pressure washer).
What is timer start/stop functionality in the Hotsy 900/1400 series?
This feature works similarly to the auto start/stop feature above, but is good for intermittent jobs over the course of several hours. For example, if you know you’ll need to stop and then start the pressure washer several minutes later (IE, at a carwash), then the timer stop/stop functionality enables you to do this without damaging your pump. The machine will stay on for a set amount of time (3-5 minutes) after the trigger has been let go. After the time expires, the machine will automatically turn off. If at any time the trigger is squeezed during the timer countdown, the timer is reset. This prevents the wear and tear caused from turning the machine off and on again during a very short period of time, yet still prevents damage that is caused by continually running a machine that is not in use.
What pressure washer is best for commercial use?
There are many Hotsy machines that are perfect for your needs, but knowing which machine is best without knowing how it will be used can be difficult. It’s best to find a Hotsy dealer near you and talk to an expert before purchasing a machine.
What PSI pressure washer do I need for commercial use?
Many of Hotsy’s machines are graded for commercial use, and many of them have different PSI, HP, and GPM. GPM and PSI together are what dictate how much power your machine has, and how effective it’ll be at certain jobs. However, more PSI does not necessarily mean it’ll be better for what YOU need it for – it’s best to contact a Hotsy dealer near you to learn more about the right machine.
If I wanted to start a business, would the 900/1400 Hotsy line be right for me?
It’s likely! Though the 900/1400 series are not meant to be portable right off the line, they can even be made portable for larger jobs, like truck washing or mobile detailing. However, these machines are often PART of a business, such as a restaurant or a stationary car washing facility. There are many great machines in the Hotsy line that can help you start or augment your business – find a Hotsy dealer to talk to in your area.
How much do professional power washers cost?
Professional power washers have a very wide range of pricing, especially if you’re not looking only at new machines, but ones with a few hours on them as well. Many local Hotsy dealers will take trade-ins and may have some pre-owned machines for you to peruse. However, keep in mind that you’re looking at a several thousand dollar investment at the least – purchasing commercial pressure washers are not for the light-hearted!
Why should I buy a Hotsy unit instead of another brand?
Hotsy is not the only quality pressure washer brand, but they are one of the most tried and true, rugged brands on the market. With a plethora of features that help anyone in need of a pressure washer to do their job, and over 50 years of design updates and market research, the Hotsy pressure washers have been perfected and designed with the user in mind. Some jobs just need a Hotsy machine for optimum performance.
